Common Pavement Signage

Does your roadway or parking lot lack the common pavement signage necessary to ensure proper traffic flow and safety? Crisp, clear markings enhance visibility and reduce accident and property damage risks. Our experienced team knows exactly what pavement striping and signs you need to ensure ADA compliance and safety, helping you maintain functional, beautiful parking lots and roadways.

Frequently Used Pavement Marking Signs

Our experienced ADA and striping contractors can improve parking area and roadway functionality and ensure compliance with these common pavement sign and striping additions:

  • Entry/exit
  • Parking stall striping
  • Handicap symbols
  • Directional arrows
  • Crosswalks
  • Stop bars and letters
  • Fire lanes/curbing
  • Warning signs
  • No parking zones
  • Bike zones
  • Loading/unloading zones

What Type of Paint is Used for Pavement Signs and Striping?

Our pavement paint differs from normal paint, featuring synthetic resins that offer a stronger bond and faster drying time. The most frequently used colors include yellow, made from heat-resistant lead, and white, made from titanium, zinc oxide, or lithopone. We may also incorporate glass beads, which reflect light to improve visibility at night, and other additives to improve durability against frequent abuse by cars, pedestrians, and weather.

How are Pavement Markings Applied?

Our striping contractors use the latest equipment and technology to provide precise, bright markings that last. Once we mix the pavement paint, we load it into our road marking machines where a hot melt kettle keeps it the ideal consistency for application. It’s then carefully screed or sprayed onto your pavement, drying quickly to a tough, durable surface so you can put your parking lot or roadways quickly back to use.

Why Do Road Markings Look Long and Stretched?

If your pavement signage text appears long and stretched after application, don’t worry. This design allows drivers to read signage more easily while in motion. Many of our customers are surprised to find out there’s a guide for traffic safety signs and roadway markings in the US. It’s been in use since 1935, and it’s almost 900 pages long. Fortunately, you don’t have to read it! Our striping company has a thorough understanding of all national and local standards, and we follow them to the letter so you can rest assured of easily distinguishable, code-compliant pavement markings.

How Long Does Pavement Signage Last?

Properly applied and cared for, striping and pavement signage can last up to 2 years, depending on traffic. However, we recommend checking your paint regularly. After it’s a year old, inspect it every six months or so for fading – or sign up for one of our custom pavement maintenance plans and let our professionals handle it for you, ensuring your asphalt and concrete remain looking their best.
